GoodBye
When is it really hard to say bye to something? I guess when you cherish the time spent at that place or with that person or on that idea!
It takes a lot of time to water the seeds of relationship, either with a person, place, or idea, and once the roots of it strengthen, the goodbye in it becomes much harder. There might be disproportionate investment in the relationship: you might have poured yourself much more in terms of connecting to a place, familiarizing yourself with the surroundings, and the place in return might have broken you more than making you. It's the same disproportion that is seen in the goodbye when the two drift apart, making the 'moving on' bit also relatively easier and harder for some.
Letting things go has become as fundamental a skill as adopting something new in this world, with the constant landscape shifts we have. In any relationship, what often ends up happening is the person who is pulling their end of the string apart has newer green pastures to explore and everything glittering with fresh experiences. However, the person who is still static holding the other end of the string has to deal with the void left behind.Only miss the sun when it starts to snow

Only hate the road when you're missing home
It's also interesting how all of them correlate: a place is memorable because of the time spent with the people there. So when you do say goodbye to them, are you saying bye only to them or even the snapshot of the place that existed because they were present in it. Do some ideas or shared goals only persist if they are being chased with the same people and the atmosphere of that place, that in a single bye collapses to become a blip?
How can someone or something be so critical to your daily life till today and just cease to exist from tomorrow with a mere bye? Just like how Einstein in 'relativity' discovered how the same object can be perceived differently depending on the frame of reference, the same act of a bye is perceived differently depending on which side of the door you are on. Memories are one way of replaying the time spent to relive the good days, but it's the absence of a shared future that is enough to make one quiver.
I wonder if they added 'good' to 'bye' to make it a more natural way of masking the sorrow of bye with some goodness :)

But dreams come slow and they go so fast
Is there ever a happy bye? Is it always a zero-sum game where someone's excitement leaves the other with a heavy heart, or is it a negative game where both stakeholders end with moist eyes?
