Taking Things For Granted

Close your eyes and envision the things you are grateful for in life.

If the output of this was finite and materialistic, then we have internal issues to be resolved. Don't we often tend to not respect things which we have, taking it for granted in our daily life?

A small thing as saying thank you and sorry might be too cliche for some but holds significant value in the opinion of others. An action of remembering your parents and talking to them is as quintessential as doing any other activity of the day. However, our attitude results in the thought that they will be okay, what's the need to talk, we've got more important work to do!

The Priority List which we create has a biased priority order. Giving it a look from another angle, and one can realize the true priority number to be associated with the elements much lower in the list.

If I love you, I show you I love you every day. Little things, big things.

Another example can be sought in the gift of vision! View the surroundings from the eyes of a blind individual; it's only darkness which they can see yet they take a step further boldly always accepting the harsh reality of their lives. However, when we are surrounded by the same darkness, we drop our shoulders and sit in the muddle crying over the mess. Why are we constrained even though we have some things which others are deprived of?

When in abundance, we take things for granted, then make it scarce and lament. Humans took the natural resources once in abundance and used it up mercilessly. This casual attitude has resulted in the plundering of our planet. This is what is happening in our lives; we are all so busy in the pursuit of materialistic things that we are forgetting the other elements like relationships assuming that they will survive the test of the times. This thought is bringing the demise of things that we are very casually ignoring. One should work for an improved quality of life learning from these small aspects of life.

We are like an ice cream whose selfish ideology is: Enjoy me before I melt; however, we should intend to be like a candle which melts, lighting up its surroundings.

Contentment is a term whose definition varies in everyone's dictionary. Nowadays, there is mediocrity contentment wherein an individual takes the existant elements of his life in his stride to stay satisfied. The flaw in this strategy is that due to the existent nature of things, a change or renewal of elements isn't sought after, which prevents growth in an individual's life.

Many college students have the belief that they have a fixed schedule imposed which they have to adhere to. They presume that they have to stand by it and start believing that is their only commitment in life. This results in other aspects, not getting equal representation in their thoughts. They draw the inference of stagnation from their peers, adopting their lifestyle.
Life is just a one time gift where nothing should be taken for granted.

The mindset one has to adopt is:
" If today was my last day of life, would I want to do what I am about to do today
Because someday that will actually come true."
