Luck - Does it exist?
You are not going to get a definitive answer here instead more questions I am still trying to find answers for! I believe that a word called "luck" to describe the events around us is justifiable.
Ask yourself: " How have I reached where I am currently? ". More often than not your mind will tell you that you reached here solely because of your hard work and persistent efforts put in.
Ask yourself: " Has luck helped you reach your current position? ". Your mind will smirk and dismiss that such a thing exists as it has not encountered proof of its existence. Well, the brain can draw the causality of an event only to its perceived reasonings but does that mean that the other factors do not exist? I am not conveying that your hard work and decision-making skills have not played a part instead asking you to consider the seasoning of luck it had for the enhanced flavor.
Ask yourself: " Did you take birth in a certain family due to your merit? ". Your mind will scoff at such a stupid question. So what controlled the decision-making of where you are born? C'mon at least now you are thinking of the word "luck"... We often take it for granted that such small things such as the family we are born in makes a difference in the overall scheme of things but it does! Being born in a privileged family grants you opportunities to take different paths in life and explore them to the fullest which we consider being mainstream almost equivalent to a fundamental right. However, think if you could do the same when your wings are pinned down by financial constraints or the lack of equivalent access to basic things like a good education.
Sometimes in your life, you have come across a situation where something out of the blue has happened in your favor. Can this randomness itself be coined "luck"?
Randomness governs our life and all things cannot be foreseen. A simple coin toss despite innumerous times in the past cannot be sufficient to predict with absolute certainty the next result. So statistics can be an indicator but establishing a direct causality of an event based on it cannot be the right way?
Hence success in our careers is now a mixture of skill, preparedness, hard work, and "luck". The reality perceived by you is not a direct reflection of the people or the circumstances. It is an image blurred by uncertain effects of unforeseeable external forces. This makes our past hard to comprehend and the future not that easy to predict...
The next time do not blame yourself solely for being unsuccessful because the Gods were playing dice and the next time you are successful always remember to credit "luck" for it!
You are lucky to have a friend like Bharath!
